Amanda offers several modalities to help in the rebalancing of emotional wellness:

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) may be beneficial to help recover from traumas and/or other life events that continue to effect us. This process uses eye movements to help the brain reprocess these events in a healthy manner. It is often quick and less intense than other trauma therapies and has been used and studied for 25 years.

Art Therapy uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem, self-awareness, and achieve insight. DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) combines skill building with Mindfulness to help decrease impulsivity, emotional reactivity, and personal problems. It can be very beneficial for people who often feel suicidal or who self harm.

Play Therapy Uses the symbolic process of play to help children develop a sense of understanding and control of their experiences. It may help children increase their self esteem, social skills, communication skills and ability to handle frustration and stress.

TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a step-by-step process that helps children process and recover from traumatic events. This therapy improves emotional reactions to the trauma and challenges thinking errors (such as blame and guilt) that children may have developed as a result of the trauma(s).

You as the client, are integral to creating the type of counseling experience that is most helpful to you. Throughout the counseling process you may wish to experience some or all of these modalities. They may be combined to create the therapy experience that is most beneficial and healing to you.
